There is great difference on the energy savings potential in our range of radiator valves. Our most simple solution, the fixed capacity valve RA-FN, does not allow any adjustment of the water flow, but offers a fixed flow in full open position. Our pre-setting valve the RA-N, has a nice 7 step pre-setting ring that can be fixed in any desired position matching your design flow. Pre-setting is necessary to balance a radiator system to make sure water is distributed evenly in all rooms.
Finally, our premium Danfoss Dynamic Valve™ RA-DV has a special pressure independent feature that can adjust for pressure changes too. With pressure independence, the pre-setting value you have adjusted on the ring, will stay true to its setting no matter the fluctuations in the system that can otherwise affect the hydronic balancing. This gives you perfect control of flow, comfort and energy optimization.

The radiator symbols tell you how well the valve supports hydronic balancing. Balancing is important in radiator systems to ensure energy efficiency and comfort in all rooms. This is because an un-balanced system does not allow water to be distributed evenly into all rooms. When a system is balanced, it enables the water to distribute evenly into all rooms at the exact time needed to maintain set temperature.
Nonetheless, many radiators are not balanced. We always recommend you go for a valve solution that allows for balancing, which you will get with the RA-N pre-setting valve and the RA-DV Danfoss Dynamic Valve™. The RA-DV is our most advanced offering with independent technology inside that adjusts for any pressure fluctuations in the system.
To balance the systems, you need to pre-set each individual radiator valve by adjusting the pre-setting ring to the right value. This calculation does not have to be difficult or time consuming! We have made it easier for you with a quick tool in our Installer App.

This symbol tells you how much noise you can eliminate going from basic to premium in our valve range. Noise from the radiators is closely linked to the water pressure level in the pipes, and how well the heating system is balanced utilizing the pre-setting feature on our RA-N and RA-DV valves. A system with no balancing can produce rushing noises or thumping sounds to the inconvenience of your customers. Avoid call backs and go for a radiator valve with pre-setting function, so you can balance the radiator system correctly.

This symbol tells you how easy the-presetting feature is to operate on the valve. On our RA-N valve, you pull out the ring, turn it, and release is back on the valve head. On our Danfoss Dynamic Valve RA-DV, you simply turn the smooth green ring to the position you want.
If you go to 03:00 in this video below, you can see how the pre-setting ring works on the RA-N valve.

There is energy and money to save in the pressure regulation of the circulation pump connected to the radiators. The better balanced the system, the more you can reduce the pump pressure to achieve the most optimized pump conditions and thereby achieve maximum energy efficiency. The thumbs-up symbol tells you how easy the pump optimization is.
You get the easiest pump optimization with the Danfoss Dynamic Valve™, which does not require any complicated calculation to set the pressure flow from the pump. This is due to the membrane inside that smooths out any pressure fluctuations. Operating with this pressure control in the radiator valves, you can run with a lower pressure flow from the pump, and still get enough flow for the entire system. You can also optimize the pump pressure with the RA-N valve, however it requires more calculation and cannot fully compensate for fluctuations and sudden deviations.
